Caption-less attachments get a reply, and a widget welcome message of its own

A photo, file or voice note sent with no caption now gets read instead of ignored, and you can give the chat widget a welcome message separate from the agent's internal description.

Fixed

  • A photo, file or voice note sent with no caption now gets a real answer. Sending an attachment on its own — no accompanying text — used to be silently dropped: the photo was never looked at, the file was never read, and a voice note was never transcribed. The agent was left with nothing and replied with a generic greeting instead of reacting to what was actually sent. This affected every channel — the web widget, WhatsApp and Telegram — not just one of them. Attachments are now read whether or not they come with a caption.
  • A connected MCP server is now available consistently, not just on the turn you first need it. An agent's connected tool from an outside system — a calendar, a document library, or any other MCP integration — could stop being offered to the agent partway through a conversation: on a greeting, a short follow-up, or any message that didn't obviously call for it. Asking for it again later worked unpredictably. It's now available on every turn the agent is allowed to use it, regardless of what the message looked like.

New

  • Give the chat widget a welcome message separate from the agent's own description. A new Widget Description field on the agent's Sandbox tab is what customers now see on the widget's opening screen. The agent's own description (on the Identity tab) is used internally for routing, delegation and system context, and is no longer shown to customers by default — leave Widget Description blank and it falls back to the internal description as before. See the web widget.
  • An agent built from a template now also gets the template's model, activity display and escalation setup. Following up on templates bringing their skills and tools consistently — see what a template brings — a template can now also set a default model with fallbacks, a starting activity display mode, and a starting escalation setup, applied through Agents → New Agent and through chat alike.
